Time for a fair go for football in 2020/21 State Budget
Football Tasmania has made a submission to the 2020/21 State Budget, asking Government for a fairer level of funding which more accurately represents the World Game’s position as Tasmania’s most-played team sport.
At the same time that some sports are seeing declining participation, one of our biggest challenges is facilitating the continual growth in demand to play football, which is set to spike now Australia has been selected host of the 2023 Women’s World Cup.
Player-wise, football is more popular than any other sport in the state, yet it continues to receive just a fraction of the funding provided to other sports such as AFL and cricket.
Football Tasmania’s submission outlines the areas we believe are key to ensuring football can continue to flourish and enrich the lives of Tasmanians, making sure everyone has access to our great game.
As such a large community, we are in a great position to make our voice heard.
On behalf of the World Game in Tasmania, we’re hoping you can join in the chorus and let Government know it’s time for a fair go for football.
The more of us that get on board, the more success we will have in letting Government know that the World Game is Tasmania’s Game too.
